Claims
- 1. A method of recording and reading out a latent image comprising:
- placing a surface charge on the photoconductive layer of a multilayered detector apparatus;
- causing said surface charge to be distributed uniformly on said photoconductive layer;
- biasing said photoconductive layer with an electronic field whose polarity opposes said surface charge;
- discharing some portion of said surface charge of said photoconductive layer by exposing said detector to a modulated radiation flux capable of generating electron hole pairs in the photoconductor;
- scanning the surface of said partially discharged photoconductive layer with a small diameter photon beam whereby surface charge is sequentially further discharged; and
- measuring the changing electric potential of said sequential further discharge as a function of time.
- 2. A method as in claim 1 including the step of converting said time dependent electric potential into a video signal for storage and display.
- 3. A method as in claim 2 including amplifying said video signal.
- 4. A method as in claim 3 including the step of rewriting said amplified video signal onto an analog archival storage medium.
- 5. A method as in claim 2 including digitalizing said video signal.
- 6. A method as in claim 5 including processing said digitalized video signal in a digital computer for image enhancement and pattern recognition.
- 7. A method as in claim 5 including storing said digitalized video signal in a digital archival storage medium.
