Claims
- 1. A method for preventing or treating RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) infection in susceptible or RSV infected persons which comprises administering a prophylactically or therapeutically effective amount of one or more human monoclonal antibodies which possess an affinity (Kd) to the RSV F-protein of about 2.times.10.sup.-9 to 10.sup.-10 molar and which also neutralize RSV in vitro.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said antibodies are selected from the group consisting of RF-1, RF-2 and recombinant human monoclonal antibodies which contain the variable heavy and light domains of RF-1 or RF-2.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein said antibodies are administered by injection or by aerosol.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein said antibodies are administered in combination with an adjuvant.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein said adjuvant is Complete Freund's Adjuvant (CFA), Alum or a combination thereof.
- 6. The method of claim 1, which comprises treatment of RSV infection in an RSV infected person by the administration of a therapeutically effective amount of said human monoclonal antibody.
- 7. The method of claim 1, which comprises the prevention of RSV infection in a susceptible individual by the administration of a prophylactically effective amount of said human monoclonal antibody.
- 8. The method of claim 6, wherein the antibody dosage ranges from 50 to 20,000 .mu.g/Kg.
- 9. The method of claim 8, wherein the antibody dosage ranges from 100 to 5,000 .mu.g/Kg.
- 10. The method of claim 7, wherein the antibody dosage ranges from 50 to 20,000 .mu.g/Kg.
- 11. The method of claim 10, wherein the antibody dosage ranges from 100 to 5,000 .mu.g/Kg.
