Claims
- 1. An isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding a mammalian CNTF receptor, wherein the nucleic acid molecule is selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) a nucleic acid comprising the coding region of CNTF receptor as set forth in SEQ. ID. NO. 1;
- (b) a nucleic acid that hybridizes to SEQ. ID. NO. 1 at 68.degree. C. in the presence of 0.5 M NaPO.sub.4 (pH7), 1% bovine serum albumin, 7% SDS, 1 mM EDTA, and 100 .mu.g/ml sonicated denatured salmon sperm DNA and under wash conditions of 68.degree. C., in 3XSSC and 0.1% SDS, and
- (c) a nucleic acid differing from (a) and (b) due to the degeneracy of the genetic code.
- 2. A vector which comprises the isolated nucleic acid molecule of claim 1.
- 3. The vector of claim 2, designated pCMX-hCNTFR (I2), deposited with the NRRL and having accession number B-18789.
- 4. An expression vector comprising the nucleic acid molecule of claim 1, wherein the molecule is operatively linked to an expression control sequence.
- 5. A host-vector system for the production of a polypeptide having the functional activity of the CNTF receptor, which comprises the vector of claim 4, in a cultured host cell.
- 6. The host-vector system of claim 5, wherein the host cell is a bacterial cell.
- 7. The host-vector system of claim 5, wherein the host cell is a yeast cell.
- 8. The host-vector system of claim 5, wherein the host cell is an insect cell.
- 9. The host-vector system of claim 5, wherein the host cell is a mammalian cell.
- 10. An isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding the CNTF receptor having an amino acid sequence as depicted in SEQ. ID. NO. 2.
