Claims
- 1. A method of protecting a glass optical fiber from abrasion comprising coating a glass optical fiber with a photocurable polyimide coating comprising recurring units of ##STR8## wherein R.sub.1 comprises a tetravalent dianhydride moiety in a mole ratio of from about 10 to about 70 mole percent of ##STR9## and from about 90 to about 30 mole percent of tetravalent photosensitizing moiety; R.sub.2 is ##STR10## and wherein the number molecular weight average is at least 10,000 g/mol.
- 2. The method of protecting a glass optical fiber of claim 1 wherein R1 is from 50 to 60 mole percent tetravalent benzophenone moiety.
- 3. The method of protecting a glass optical fiber of claim 1 wherein the tetravalent photosensitizing moiety is ##STR11##
- 4. The method of protecting a glass optical fiber of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is from about 50 to about 90 mole percent tetravalent benzophenone moiety.
