Claims
- 1. A printing plate comprising:
a substrate; a first layer comprising a first polymer composition overlying said substrate, said first polymer composition comprising an acrylic polymer and a plurality of laser-sensitive particles; and a second layer comprising a second polymer composition overlying said first layer, wherein said first polymer composition and second polymer composition have different affinities for a printing liquid.
- 2. The printing plate of claim 1 wherein said acrylic polymer comprises a copolymer of acrylic acid and vinyl phosphonic acid.
- 3. The printing plate of claim 1 wherein said substrate comprises aluminum.
- 4. The printing plate of claim 3 wherein said principal surface is finished by at least one of roll texturing, mechanical texturing, chemical texturing or electrochemical texturing.
- 5. The printing plate of claim 1 wherein said second polymer composition comprises an acrylic polymer, a hydrophilic polypropylene composition, a thermoplastic or elastomeric polymer or a silicone polymer.
- 6. The printing plate of claim 5 further comprising a third layer underlying said first layer.
- 7. The printing plate of claim 6 wherein said third layer comprises a composition selected from the group consisting of an acrylic polymer, a hydrophilic polypropylene composition and a thermoplastic or elastomeric polymer.
- 8. The printing plate of claim 7 wherein said second polymer composition comprises an acrylic polymer or a silicone polymer and said third layer comprises a thermoplastic or elastomeric polymer.
- 9. The printing plate of claim 7 wherein said third layer is coated onto said substrate via roll coating, spray coating, immersion coating, emulsion coating or vacuum coating.
- 10. The printing plate of claim 6 wherein said third layer comprises a conversion coating comprising a salt or compound of Zn, Cr, P, Zr, Ti or Mo.
- 11. The printing plate of claim 6 wherein said third layer comprises an epoxy resin electrocoated onto said substrate.
