Claims
- 1. A polymer which has a mean molecular weighb of 1,000 to 5,000,000 and contains
- (a) 20 to 50 mol % of at least one structural element of formula I ##STR16## or its complexes with metals or metal compounds, with the exception of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals or alkali metal or alkaline earth metal compounds, wherein the --CH--CH.sub.2 --group is bonded in the 4- or 6-position, R.sup.1 is hydrogen C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkoxy, phenyl or phenoxy and R.sup.2 is hydrogen or methyl,
- (b) 50 to 35 mol % of at least one structural element of any of formula IIIa to formula IIIi ##STR17## in which Q.sup.1 is --O--, --S-- or --NH--, Q.sup.2 is --O--, --S--, --NH-- or --NR.sup.3 and Q.sup.3 is --OCO--, --O--, --S--, --NH-- or --NR.sup.3, R.sup.3 is a hydrogen atom or methyl, R.sup.7 is straight-chain or branched alkylene having a total of 2 to 23 C atoms and 2 to 13 C atoms in the main chain, cyclopentylene, cyclohexylene, phenylene or --(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O--).sub.r CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- in which r is an integer from 1 to 5, and R.sup.6 is the radical of hte formula II ##STR18## in which G.sup.1 and G.sup.2 independently of one another are alkyl having 1 to 4 C atoms, or G.sup.1 and G.sup.2 together form trimethylene or tetramethylene which is unsubstituted or substituted by methyl,
- R.sup.8 is --OH or --O.sup.- M.sup.+ in which M.sup.+ is a cation,
- p is 1 or 2, and q is an integer from 2 to 4, and
- (c) 0 to 45 mol % of at least one structural element of formula IV ##STR19## in which X.sub.1 is hydrogen, X.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl, and X.sub.3 is --CN, --CONH.sub.2, phenyl, pyridyl, pyrrolidyl, --COO--alkyl having 1 to 12 C atoms in the alkyl radical or --COO--alkylene--OH having 2 to 4 C atoms in the alkylene radical; or X.sub.2 is hydrogen and X.sub.1 and X.sub.3 are each --COOH or together form an anhydride group.
- 2. A polymer or its complexes according to claim 1, wherein the --CH--CH.sub.2 -group is bonded in the 4-position, R.sup.1 is hydrogen or is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl bonded in the 4'-, 5'- or 6'-position, and R.sup.2 is hydrogen or methyl.
- 3. A polymer or its complexes according to claim 1, wherein the --CH--CH.sub.2 -group is bonded in the 4-position, R.sup.1 is methyl bonded in the 4'- or 6'-position and R.sup.2 is hydrogen, or R.sup.1 is hydrogen and R.sup.2 is methyl bonded in the 6-position.
- 4. A complex of a polymer according to claim 1, wherein the metal is a metal of sub-group Ib or VIII, iron, ruthenium, nickel, palladium, platinum, copper or cobalt.
- 5. A polymer or its complexes according to claim 1 wherein G.sup.1 and G.sup.2 in formula II are methyl.
- 6. A coated material which contains on a substrate, a layer of a polymer according to claim 1.
