Claims
- 1. A housing for a slide projector mounted light valve display comprising:
- a housing having a securing mechanism to secure the housing to the slide projector;
- a light valve display movable between a first position and a second position, the first position being within the housing and the second position being outside the housing; and
- a switching mechanism for actuating movement of the display between the first position and the second position.
- 2. The housing of claim 1 wherein the securing mechanism registers to a spindle of the slide projector.
- 3. The housing of claim 1 wherein the securing mechanism registers to a frame tab of the slide projector.
- 4. The housing of claim 1 wherein the securing mechanism secures to a slide well of the slide projector.
- 5. The housing of claim 1 wherein the display is an active matrix liquid crystal display.
- 6. The housing of claim 1 wherein the switching mechanism is manually operated.
- 7. The housing of claim 1 wherein the switching mechanism is automated.
- 8. The housing of claim 1 wherein the switching mechanism comprises a spring, the spring assisting in moving the display.
- 9. The housing of claim 8 wherein the spring assists in moving the display from the first to the second position.
- 10. The housing of claim 8 wherein the spring assists in moving the display from the second to the first position.
- 11. The housing of claim 1 further comprising a video interface coupled between the display and a remote video source.
- 12. The housing of claim 11 wherein the video source is a computer.
- 13. The housing of claim 11 wherein the video source generates a composite video signal.
- 14. The housing of claim 11 further comprising a remote control receiver, the video source being responsive to remote control signals received by the receiver.
- 15. The housing of claim 14 wherein the remote control receiver comprises an infrared detector.
- 16. A housing for a slide projector mounted liquid crystal display comprising:
- a housing adapted to be positioned on a slide projector assembly;
- a liquid crystal display movable through an aperture in the housing between a first position and a second position, the first position being within the housing and the second position being outside the housing; and
- a switching mechanism for actuating movement of the display between the first position and second position.
- 17. The housing of claim 1 wherein the display is an active matrix liquid crystal display.
- 18. The housing of claim 1 wherein the switching mechanism is manually operated.
- 19. A method of projecting images on a viewing surface with a slide projector mounted light valve display comprising:
- securing a light valve housing to a slide projector with a securing mechanism;
- moving the light valve display that is attached to the housing into a slide chamber of the slide projector such that the light valve display is positioned between a light source within the slide projector and a projection lens on the slide projector;
- directing light from the light source within the slide projector through the light valve; and
- actuating the light valve to selectively control light transmission through the light valve such that an image is projected on the viewing surface.
- 20. The method of claim 19 wherein the securing step comprises registering the housing on a spindle of the slide projector.
- 21. The method of claim 20 wherein the securing mechanism comprises a tab cutout positioned on the housing.
- 22. The method of claim 21 wherein the securing step further comprises mounting the tab cutout over spindle tab of the slide projector spindle and rotating the housing to align the light valve display over the slide chamber.
- 23. The method of claim 19 wherein the moving step comprises moving step comprises moving a slide handle from a first position to a second position.
- 24. The method of claim 19 wherein the securing mechanism comprises a channel on the housing.
- 25. A housing for a slide projector mounted light valve display comprising:
- a housing having a spindle mount to secure the housing to a spindle of the slide projector;
- a light valve display movable between a first position and a second position, the first position being within the housing and the second position being outside the housing; and
- an opening in the housing through which the light valve display can be moved into a slide chamber of the slide projector.
- 26. The housing of claim 25 further comprising a the securing mechanism that registers the housing to a spindle of the slide projector.
- 27. The housing of claim 26 wherein the securing mechanism registers to a frame tab of the slide projector.
- 28. The housing of claim 26 wherein the securing mechanism secures to a slide well of the slide projector.
- 29. The housing of claim 25 wherein the display is an active matrix liquid crystal display.
- 30. The housing of claim 25 further comprising a switching mechanism to move the display and which is manually operated.
