Claims
- 1. A carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition comprising a polyimide and a carbon fiber coated with an aromatic bisimide compound.
- 2. The carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 1 wherein the aromatic bisimide compound is represented by the formula (2): ##STR99## wherein X is a direct bond, a divalent hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, hexafluorinated isopropylidene, carbonyl, thio or sulfonyl, and Y.sub.1 .about.Y.sub.4 are individually hydrogen, methyl radical, methoxy radical, chlorine or bromine atom, and R is a divalent radical selected from the group consisting of a monoaromatic radical, condensed polyaromatic radical, and noncondensed aromatic radical connected to each other with a direct bond or a bridge member.
- 3. The carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 1 wherein the aromatic bisimide compound is represented by the formula (10): ##STR100## wherein B is a radical selected from a direct bond, divalent hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, hexafluorinated isopropylidene, carbonyl, thio, ether or sulfonyl, each nitrogen atom is individually para-, ortho- or meta-located to B and R is a divalent radical selected from the group consisting of a monoaromatic radical, condensed polyaromatic radical, and noncondensed aromatic radical connected to each other with a direct bond or a bridge member.
- 4. A carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 1 wherein the polyimide has recurring structural units represented by the formula (11): ##STR101## wherein X is a direct bond, a divalent hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, hexafluorinated isopropylidene, carbonyl, thio or sulfonyl, Y.sub.1 .about.Y.sub.4 are individually hydrogen atom, methyl radical, methoxy radical, chlorine or bromine atom, and R' is a tetravalent radical having 2 or more carbon atoms and selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic radical, alicyclic radical, monoaromatic radical, condensed polyaromatic radical and noncondensed aromatic radical connected to each other with a direct bond or a bridge member.
- 5. A carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 1 wherein the polyimide has recurring structural units represented by the formula (9): ##STR102##
- 6. A carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 1 wherein the aromatic bisimide compound is represented by the formula (2): ##STR103## wherein X is a direct bond, a divalent hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, hexafluorinated isopropylidene, carbonyl, thio or sulfonyl, and Y.sub.1 .about.Y.sub.4 are individually hydrogen, methyl radical, methoxy radical, chlorine or bromine atom, and R is a divalent radical selected from the group consisting of a monoaromatic radical, condensed polyaromatic radical, and noncondensed aromatic radical connected to each other with a direct bond or a bridge member, and the polyimide has recurring structural units represented by the formula (11): ##STR104## wherein X is a direct bond, a divalent hTdrocarbon radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, hexafluorinated isopropylidene, carbonyl, thio or sulfonyl, Y.sub.1 .about.Y.sub.4 are individually hydrogen atom, methyl radical, methoxy radical, chlorine or bromine atom, and R' is a tetravalent radical having 2 or more carbon atoms and selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic radical, alicyclic radical, monoaromatic radical, condensed polyaromatic radical and noncondensed aromatic radical connected to each other with a direct bond or a bridge member.
- 7. A carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 1 wherein the aromatic bisimide compound is represented by the formula (2): ##STR105## wherein X is a direct bond, a divalent hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, hexafluorinated isopropylidene, carbonyl, thio or sulfonyl, and Y.sub.1 .about.Y.sub.4 are individually hydrogen, methyl radical, methoxy radical, chlorine or bromine atom, and R is a divalent radical selected from the group consisting of a monoaromatic radical, condensed polyaromatic radical, and noncondensed aromatic radical connected to each other with a direct bond or a bridge member, and the polyimide has recurring structural units represented by the formula (9): ##STR106## wherein R' is a tetravalent radical having 2 or more carbon atoms and selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic radical, alicyclic radical, monoaromatic radical, condensed polyaromatic radical and noncondensed aromatic radical connected to each other with a direct bond or a bridge member.
- 8. A carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 1 wherein the aromatic bisimide compound is represented by the formula (10): ##STR107## wherein B is a radical selected from a direct bond, divalent hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, hexafluorinated isopropylidene, carbonyl, thio, ether and sulfonyl, each nitrogen atom is individually para-, ortho- or meta-located to B and R is a divalent radical selected from the group consisting of a monoaromatic radical, condensed polyaromatic radical, noncondensed aromatic radical connected to each other with a direct bond or a bridge member, and the polyimide has recurring structural units represented by the formula (11): ##STR108## wherein X is a direct bond, a divalent hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, hexafluorinated isopropylidene, carbonyl, thio or sulfonyl, Y.sub.1 -Y.sub.4 are individually hydrogen atom, methyl radical, methoxy radical, chlorine or bromine atom, and R' is a tetravalent radical having 2 or more carbon atoms and selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic radical, alicyclic radical, monoaromatic radical, condensed polyaromatic radical and noncondensed aromatic radical connected to each other with a direct bond or a bridge member.
- 9. The carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 1 comprising from 5 to 50 parts by weight of a carbon fiber coated with the bisimide compound on the surface and from 95 to 50 parts by weight of the polyimide.
- 10. The carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 2 comprising from 5 to 50 parts by weight of a carbon fiber coated with the bisimide compound on the surface and from 95 to 50 parts by weight of the polyimide.
- 11. The carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 3 comprising from 5 to 50 parts by weight of a carbon fiber coated with the bisimide compound on the surface and from 95 to 50 parts by weight of the polyimide.
- 12. The carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 4 comprising from 5 to 50 parts by weight of a carbon fiber coated with the bisimide compound on the surface and from 95 to 50 parts by weight of the polyimide.
- 13. The carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 5 comprising from 5 to 50 parts by weight of a carbon fiber coated with the bisimide compound on the surface and from 95 to 50 parts by weight of the polyimide.
- 14. The carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 6 comprising from 5 to 50 parts by weight of a carbon fiber coated with the bisimide compound on the surface and from 95 to 50 parts by weight of the polyimide.
- 15. The carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 7 comprising from 5 to 50 parts by weight of a carbon fiber coated with the bisimide compound on the surface and from 95 to 50 parts by weight of the polyimide.
- 16. The carbon fiber reinforced polyimide resin composition of claim 8 comprising from 5 to 50 parts by weight of a carbon fiber coated with the bisimide compound on the surface and from 95 to 50 parts by weight of the polyimide.
