Claims
- 1. A composite printing element comprising at least one photocurable element disposed on a first surface of a substantially arcuate printing element that bears registration information, said photocurable element comprising:a support layer; photocurable material disposed upon said support layer; and negative-forming ink disposed upon said photocurable material, said ink being substantially opaque to actinic radiation in at least one wavelength region effective to cure said pbotocurable material and substantially resistant to polymerization upon exposure to actinic radiation in said wavelength region.
- 2. The composite element of claim 1 wherein said substantially arcuate printing element is a printing sleeve.
- 3. The composite element of claim 1 further comprising an adhesive disposed between said photocurable element and said substantially arcuate printing element.
- 4. The composite element of claim 1 wherein said photocurable material comprises a plurality of layers.
- 5. The composite element of claim 1 wherein said photocurable material comprises an elastomer compound, an ethylenically unsaturated compound having at least one terminal ethylenic group, and a photoinitiator.
- 6. The composite element of claim 1 further comprising a transparent protective layer disposed upon said photocurable material between said ink and said photocurable material.
- 7. A composite printing element comprising at least one photocurable element disposed on a first surface of a substantially arcuate printing element that bears registration information, said photocurable element comprising:a support layer; photocurable material disposed upon said support layer; and a photoablatable mask layer disposed upon said photocurable material, said photoablatable mask layer being substantially opaque to actinic radiation in at least one wavelength region effective to cure said photocurable material and substantially resistant to polymerization upon exposure to actinic radiation in said wavelength region.
- 8. A composite printing element comprising at least one photocurable element disposed on a first surface of a printing element that bears registration information, said photocurable element comprising:a support layer; photocurable material disposed upon said support layer; and a photoablatable mask layer disposed upon said photocurable material, said photoablatable mask layer being substantially opaque to actinic radiation in at least one wavelength region effective to cure said photocurable material and substantially resistant to polymerization upon exposure to actinic radiation in said wavelength region.
