Claims
- 1. A purified polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:3 and SEQ ID NO:5.
- 2. The isolated and purified polypeptide of claim 1 comprising one functional domain.
- 3. The isolated and purified polypeptide of claim 1 comprising the amino acid residue sequence of SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:2.
- 4. The isolated and purified polypeptide of claim 2 comprising the amino acid residue sequence of SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:5, SEQ ID NO: 6, or SEQ ID NO:8.
- 5. A polypeptide selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:3, and SEQ ID NO:5 that is fused to a heterologous polypeptide.
- 6. The polypeptide of claim 1 prepared by a process comprising the steps of:
- a. transfecting a cell with a polynucleotide that encodes the polypeptide to produce a transformed cell; and
- b. maintaining the transformed cell under biological conditions sufficient for expression of the polypeptide.
- 7. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the polypeptide of claim 1 and a physiologically acceptable carrier.
- 8. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the polypeptide of claim 2 and a physiologically acceptable carrier.
- 9. The isolated and purified polypeptide of claim 1 comprising the amino acid residue sequence of SEQ ID NO:1.
- 10. The isolated and purified polypeptide of claim 1 comprising the amino acid residue sequence of SEQ ID NO:2.
- 11. The isolated and purified polypeptide of claim 2 comprising the amino acid residue sequence of SEQ ID NO:3.
- 12. The isolated and purified polypeptide of claim 2 comprising the amino acid residue sequence of SEQ ID NO:5.
- 13. A polypeptide of claim 5 wherein the heterologous polypeptide is .beta.-galactosidase.
- 14. The polypeptide of claim 5 wherein the heterologous polypeptide is cro-.beta.-galactosidase.
- 15. The polypeptide of claim 5 wherein the heterologous polypeptide is yeast transcription factor GAL4.
- 16. A purified polypeptide consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:6 or SEQ NO:8.
- 17. A polypeptide selected from the group consisting of the amino acid sequence consisting of SEQ ID NO.6 or SEQ ID NO:8 that is fused to cro-.beta.-galactosidase, yeast transcription factor GAL4 or .beta.-galactosidase.

This is a divisional application of patent application Ser. No. 08/040,548 filed Mar. 31, 1993 which is a continuation-ini-part of patent application Ser. No. 07/249,584 filed Sep. 26, 1988 now issued as U.S. Pat. No. 5,206,152 which is a continuation-in-part of patent application Ser. No. 07/179,587 filed Apr. 8, 1988, now abandoned, the disclosures of which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety. The government owns rights in the present invention pursuant to grant number CA 40046 from The National Cancer Institute (e.g., the National Institutes of Health).
