Claims
- 1. A kit for detecting native RANK protein in a patient specimen, said kit comprising a RANK polypeptide, wherein the RANK polypeptide is selected from the group consisting of:
a) a polypeptide comprising amino acids x to 213 of SEQ ID NO:6, wherein x is any one of amino acids 1-33 of SEQ ID NO:6; b) a polypeptide comprising amino acids x to 616 of SEQ ID NO:6, wherein x is any one of amino acids 1-33 of SEQ ID NO:6; c) a RANK:Fc polypeptide comprising amino acids x to 213 of SEQ ID NO:6, wherein x is amino acid 1, or any one of amino acids 24-33 of SEQ ID NO:6, and amino acids 3-232 of SEQ ID NO:8; and d) a RANK:Fc polypeptide comprising amino acids x to 213 of SEQ ID NO:6, wherein x is any one of amino acids 1-33 of SEQ ID NO:6, and an Fc region from a human immunoglobulin.
- 2. A kit according to claim 1, said kit further comprising a monoclonal antibody specific for RANK, wherein RANK is a polypeptide consisting of amino acids 1-616 of SEQ ID NO:6.
- 3. A kit according to claim 1, wherein said kit uses an assay format selected from the group consisting of ELISA and a solid phase binding assay.
- 4. A kit for detecting the presence of RANK nucleic acid in an in vitro assay, said kit comprising at least one fragment of DNA comprising at least 17 nucleotides of SEQ ID NO:5 or at least one fragment of DNA comprising at least 17 nucleotides that are complementary to SEQ ID NO:5.
- 5. A kit according to claim 4, wherein the detection method is polymerase chain reaction and the kit comprises a first fragment of DNA comprising at least 17 nucleotides of SEQ ID NO:5 and a second fragment of DNA comprising at least 17 nucleotides that are complementary to SEQ ID NO:5.
- 6. A kit according to claim 5, wherein the first fragment of DNA consists of nucleotides 272-295 of SEQ ID NO:5 and the second fragment of DNA consists of the complement of nucleotides 409-427 of SEQ ID NO:5.
- 7. A kit according to claim 4, wherein the detection method is Northern or Southern blot.
