Claims
- 1. A substrate transport path adjustment method, comprising the steps of:
- causing regulating members to approach each other to engage a substrate containment device, said regulating members being capable of regulating the position of said substrate containment device in a direction perpendicular to a prescribed path;
- positioning said substrate containment device with respect to said prescribed path by moving each of said regulating members in the same direction in synchronization;
- feeding a substrate from said substrate containment device to said prescribed path;
- causing guide members disposed on the sides of said prescribed path to approach each other to engage said substrate fed from said substrate containment device between said guide members; and
- positioning said substrate with respect to said prescribed path by moving each of said guide members in the same direction in synchronization.
- 2. The substrate transport path adjustment method as set forth in claim 1 wherein the center in the direction of width of said substrate containment device is aligned with the center of said prescribed path.
- 3. The substrate transport path adjustment method as set forth in claim 1 wherein the center in the direction of width of said substrate containment device is aligned at a position biased by a prescribed distance with respect to the center of said prescribed path by moving each of said guide members and regulating members in synchronization and in the same direction.
- 4. The substrate transport path adjustment method as set forth in claim 1 wherein the reference positions of said guide members and regulating members are set.
- 5. The substrate transport path adjustment method as set forth in claim 1 wherein the set positions of said substrate containment path and substrate with respect to said prescribed path are stored in a storage device.
- 6. A substrate transport path adjustment method, comprising the steps of:
- causing regulating members to approach each other to engage a substrate containment device, said regulating members being capable of regulating the position of said substrate containment device in a direction perpendicular to a prescribed path;
- positioning said substrate containment device with respect to said prescribed path by moving each of said regulating members in the same direction in synchronization;
- feeding a substrate from said substrate containment device to said prescribed path;
- causing guide members disposed on the sides of said prescribed path to approach each other to engage said substrate fed from said substrate containment device between said guide members;
- positioning said substrate with respect to said prescribed path by moving each of said guide members in the same direction in synchronization; and
- providing in a row at least three sites at which a prescribed work is to be performed on said substrate along the direction of feeding of said substrate, the distance between the centers of corresponding sites positioned on both sides of at least one of said sites being measured, and the value resulting from dividing said distance between centers by one less than the total number of said corresponding sites and said site surrounded by these sites being obtained as the mean pitch between neighboring sites.
- 7. The substrate transfer path adjustment method as set forth in claim 6, wherein an image recognition apparatus is arranged near said prescribed path, and wherein the method further comprises the step of:
- monitoring the position of said sites with said image recognition apparatus.
- 8. A substrate transport method, comprising the steps of:
- driving first and second guide members, which are capable of approaching and moving away from each other, to engage first and second sides of a substrate, respectively, so as to guide said substrate along a prescribed path;
- detecting that said first and second guide members are in contact with said substrate and are positioned to guide said substrate;
- guiding said substrate along the prescribed path;
- driving regulating members to regulate the position of a substrate containment device by mutually approaching and moving away, said substrate containment device being proximate one end of said guide members, said substrate containment device containing said substrate when said substrate is not being guided by said guide members; and
- detecting that said regulating members have regulated the position of said substrate containment device.
- 9. The substrate transport method according to claim 8, further comprising the steps of:
- feeding said substrate from said substrate containment device to said prescribed path; and
- detecting that said substrate has been fed from said substrate containment device.
- 10. The substrate transport method according to claim 8, further comprising the steps of:
- feeding said substrate from said prescribed path to said substrate containment device; and
- detecting that said substrate has been fed to said substrate containment device.
- 11. The substrate transport method according to claim 8, wherein the step of driving the guide members further comprises:
- driving at least one of first and second guide members, so that the first and second guide members approach each other, until said substrate is engaged; and
- driving said first and second guide members in synchronization to center said substrate along a centerline of said prescribed path.
- 12. The substrate transport method according to claim 8, wherein said regulating members include first and second opposing regulating members for regulating the position of said substrate containment device in a direction perpendicular to a direction of the prescribed path, wherein the step of driving said regulating members further comprises:
- driving at least one of said first and second opposing regulating members to approach each other and stopping said driving when said regulating members are engaged with said substrate containment device; and
- driving said first and second opposing regulating members in synchronization to center said substrate containment device along a centerline of said prescribed path.
- 13. The substrate transport method according to claim 8, wherein step of detecting said guide members includes:
- using a first sensor to detect whether said substrate is located on said guide members; and
- using a second sensor to detect whether said guide members are positioned to guide said substrate.
- 14. The substrate transport method according to claim 8, wherein the step of detecting said guide members includes:
- generating signals corresponding to an amount of operation of a signal generation device, wherein a cessation of said signals indicates that said guide members are positioned to guide said substrate.
- 15. The substrate transport method according to claim 8, further comprising:
- using image recognition means for detecting sites on said substrate.
- 16. The substrate transport method according to claim 8, wherein the step of detecting said regulating members includes:
- using a sensor to detect whether said regulating members have regulated the position of said substrate containment device.
- 17. The substrate transport method according to claim 8, wherein the step of detecting said regulating members includes:
- generating signals corresponding to an amount of operation of a signal generating device, wherein a cessation of said signals indicates that said regulating members have regulated the position of said substrate containment device.
