Claims
- 1. A slider comprising:
A slider body including at least one bonding pad for read/write signals and a separate ground bonding pad.
- 2. The slider of claim 1 wherein said separate ground pad is to be electrically coupled to electrical ground in a hard disk drive device.
- 3. A slider suspension assembly comprising:
A slider including a slider body having at least one bonding pad for read write signals and a separate ground bonding pad; and A suspension coupled to said slider.
- 4. The slider suspension assembly of claim 3 wherein said suspension includes at least one bonding pad to be coupled to said at least one bonding pad of said slider and a separate bonding pad to be coupled to said separate ground bonding pad of said slider.
- 5. The slider suspension assembly of claim 4 wherein the bonding pads of slider are electrically coupled to the bonding pads of the suspension via gold ball bonding.
- 6. The slider suspension assembly of claim 5 wherein the suspension includes conductive traces coupled to said bonding pads.
- 7. A method of fabricating a suspension assembly comprising:
Providing a slider including at least one bonding pad for read/write signals and a separate ground bonding pad; Coupling said slider to a suspension.
- 8. The method of claim 7 further comprising:
Providing on said suspension at least one bonding pad for read/write signals and a separate ground bonding pad.
- 9. The method of claim 8 further comprising:
Electrically coupling the bonding pads of said slider to the bonding pads of said suspension.
- 10. The method of claim 9 wherein said bonding pads are electrically coupled using gold ball bonding.
- 11. The method of claim 9 further comprising:
Providing conductive traces on said suspension coupled to the bonding pads of the suspension.
- 12. The method of claim 7 wherein said slider is coupled to said suspension without conductive glue.
- 13. A suspension comprising:
a base; a number of metal traces to be coupled to read/write circuitry in a slider component coupled to said suspension; and a separate metal trace to be coupled to a ground pad on said slider component.
- 14. The suspension of claim 13 wherein said suspension further comprises a ground plane to be coupled to a grounding component in a disk drive.
- 15. The suspension of claim 14 wherein said ground plane is to be coupled to said ground pad on said slider component.
- 16. The suspension of claim 13 further comprising:
a slider component including read/write circuitry.
- 17. A suspension comprising:
a base; a dielectric layer disposed on said base; a number of metal traces coupled to said dielectric layer to be coupled to read/write circuitry on a slider component coupled to said suspension; and a separate trace segment to be electrically coupled to said slider component.
- 18. The suspension of claim 17 wherein said separate trace segment is coupled through an opening in said dielectric layer to said base.
- 19. The suspension of claim 18 wherein said base is made of stainless steel.
- 20 The suspension of claim 19 further comprising:
a second trace segment electrically coupled to said base.
- 21. The suspension of claim 20 wherein said second trace is to be coupled to an electrical component in a disk drive.
- 22. The suspension of claim 20 wherein said second trace is to be coupled to a ground terminal of a pre-amplifier.
- 23. The suspension of claim 22 further comprising:
a slider including read/write circuitry electrically coupled to said number of traces and trace segments on said suspension.
- 24. The suspension of claim 17 wherein said separate trace segment is coupled over an edge of said dielectric layer to said base.
- 25. The suspension of claim 24 wherein said base is made of stainless steel.
- 26. The suspension of claim 25 further comprising:
a second trace segment electrically coupled to said base.
- 27. The suspension of claim 26 wherein said second trace is to be coupled to a ground terminal of a pre-amplifier.
- 28. The suspension of claim 21 further comprising:
a slider including read/write circuitry electrically coupled to said number of traces and trace segments on said suspension.
- 29. A suspension comprising:
a flex suspension assembly including
a ground plane; a dielectric layer; a number of metal traces to be coupled to read/write circuitry in a slider component; and a separate trace segment to be electrically coupled to said slider component.
- 30. The suspension of claim 29 wherein said separate trace segment is to be electrically coupled to a ground pad on said slider component.
- 31. The suspension of claim 30 further comprising:
a base coupled to said flex suspension assembly.
- 32. The suspension of claim 31 wherein said ground plane is to be coupled to a ground terminal on a pre-amplifier component in a disk drive.
- 33. The suspension of claim 31 further comprising:
a slider a slider including read/write circuitry electrically coupled to said number of traces and said separate segments on said flex suspension assembly.
- 34. A disk drive comprising:
a head suspension assembly including
a slider including read/write circuitry; a number of traces coupled to pads on said slider coupled to said read/write circuitry; a separate trace segment coupled to said slider a dielectric layer; and a metal base, such that said separate trace segment is electrically coupled to said metal base.
- 35. The disk drive of claim 34 further comprising:
a pre-amplifier including a ground terminal electrically coupled to the metal base of said head suspension assembly.
- 36. The disk drive of claim 35 wherein said head suspension assembly further comprises:
a second trace segment coupled between the ground terminal of said pre-amplifier and the metal base of said head suspension assembly.
- 37. The disk drive of claim 34 wherein said head suspension assembly further includes a ground plane between said metal base and said dielectric layer wherein said ground plane is electrically coupled to the ground terminal on said pre-amplifier.
- 38. A slider comprising:
A slider body including a substrate, circuitry to write and read data on a recording disk, at least one bonding pad to pass read/write signals and a separate ground bonding pad electrically coupled to said substrate.
- 39. The slider of claim 38 wherein said separate ground bonding pad is located at a trailing edge of said slider and is electrically coupled to said substrate via an electrical connection adjacent to said circuitry to write and read data on the recording disk.
- 40. The slider of claim 39 wherein said electrical connection between said separate ground bonding pad and said substrate is electrically isolated from other circuitry in the slider.
- 41. The slider of claim 39 wherein said electrical connection is between the separate ground bonding pad a component within the slider.
- 42. The slider of claim 38 wherein said separate ground bonding pad is located at one of a leading edge and a side edge of said slider.
