Claims
- 1. A method of forming a silicon tube, comprising: fixing together a plurality of at least twenty of silicon staves all extending parallel to a central axis.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said fixing process includes welding.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein said fixing process includes applying a bonding agent to interfaces between said staves.
- 4. The method of claim 3, wherein said bonding agent comprises a silica-based spin-on glass.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein said staves have grooves and tongues fittable in said grooves and extending parallel to said central axis.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein said staves are arranged in a circular pattern about said central axis.
- 7. The method of claim 1, wherein staves comprise virgin polysilicon.
- 8. The method of claim 1, wherein said staves have trapezoidal shapes.
- 9. The method of claim 1, further comprising circularizing an interior surfaces of said staves fixed together.
- 10. A method of forming a closed wall, comprising bonding together a plurality of silicon plates in a closed pattern.
- 11. The method of claim 10, wherein said bonding includes applying a spin-on silica glass to interfaces between said plates.
- 11. The method of claim 10, wherein said bonding includes welding said plates together.
- 12. The method of claim 10, wherein said plates comprises virgin polysilicon.
- 13. A fabrication method comprising extruding from a silicon melt a circular silicon tube having a diameter sufficient to accommodate a silicon wafer.
- 14. The method of claim 14, wherein said extruding comprises edge film growth.
- 15. A silicon tube, comprising a plurality of silicon staves fixed together in a closed pattern with an interior bore and extending parallel to a central axis.
- 16. The tube of claim 15, wherein said plurality of silicon staves comprises twenty of said silicon staves.
- 17. The silicon tube of claim 15, wherein said staves are composed of virgin polysilicon.
- 18. The silicon tube of claim 15, wherein said staves are welded together.
- 19. The silicon tube of claim 15, wherein said staves are bonded together.
- 20. The silicon tube of claim 15, further comprising a silica glass formed between said silicon staves and joining them into said tube.
