Claims
- 1. A method of processing a leadframe strip defining a first row of alignment holes and a second row of alignment holes, said method comprising:
allowing incremental advancement of said leadframe strip using said first row of alignment holes; and refraining from using said second row of alignment holes to allow said advancement.
- 2. The method in claim 1, wherein said allowing advancement comprises penetrating at least one hole of said first row of alignment holes with at least one protrusion from a movable belt.
- 3. The method in claim 2, further comprising:
moving said leadframe strip proximate to a tool; and penetrating at least one hole of said second row of alignment holes with a protrusion from said tool.
- 4. The method in claim 3, further comprising guiding said advancement with a track encompassing a side of said strip.
- 5. A method of handling an electronic component, comprising:
initiating a first engagement between said electronic component and a conveyor; initiating a second engagement between a tool and said component without altering said first engagement; and performing a tooling function on said component with said tool.
- 6. The method in claim 5, wherein said performing a tooling function comprises removing flashing.
- 7. The method in claim 5, wherein said performing a tooling function comprises punching a portion from said component.
- 8. The method in claim 5, wherein said performing a tooling function comprises trimming said component.
- 9. The method in claim 5, wherein said performing a tooling function comprises performing a forming operation.
- 10. The method in claim 9, wherein said performing a forming operation comprises bending a lead of said component.
- 11. A method of processing a strip of lead frames, comprising:
engaging two opposing sides of said strip with a lead frame advancement system; and allowing for additional engagement between said strip and a tooling device during said engaging step.
- 12. The method in claim 11, further comprising fully retaining an engagement between said strip and said lead frame advancement system during said additional engagement.
- 13. The method in claim 13, wherein said engaging two opposing sides of said strip with a frame advancement system comprises:
penetrating a hole in one side of said strip with an extension from a continuous belt; and surrounding another side of said strip with a track.
- 14. The method in claim 13, wherein said allowing for additional engagement comprises exposing a hole in said another side with said track.
- 15. A processing device for an elongated workpiece defining a primary axis and further defining a first row and a second row of alignment holes, said rows running parallel to said axis, and said device comprising:
a belt comprising a first protrusion configured to mate with a hole from said first row to the exclusion of any hole from said second row; and tool comprising a second protrusion configured to mate with a hole from said second row.
- 16. The device of claim 15, wherein said tool is configured to mate with at least one hole from said second row to the exclusion of any hole from said first row.
