Claims
- 1. A method of depositing at least one ionized atom on a target and moving said at least one atom into a desired position, comprising:(a) providing said at least one ionized atom from a first source; (b) directing said at least one ionized atom to a field along a first axis; (c) directing said at least one ionized atom toward said target along a second axis different from said first axis by interaction of said at least one ionized atom and said field; (d) providing at least one electron from a second source; (e) directing said at least one electron to said field along a third axis; (f) directing said at least one electron toward said target along a fourth axis by interaction of said at least one electron and said field; (g) depositing said at least one ionized atom on said target; and (h) directing said at least one electron in such a manner as to move said deposited at least one ionized atom on said target to a desired position.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said at least one electron is an electron beam including a plurality of electrons.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein said electron beam is focused upon said target.
- 4. The method of claim 2 wherein said field has a substantially symmetrical cylindrical form having a geometric center thereto upon which said electron beam is focused.
- 5. The method of claim 4 wherein said at least one ionized atom passes substantially through said geometric center.
- 6. The method of claim 2 wherein said electrons are scattered by collision with said deposited said at least one ionized atom.
- 7. The method of claim 6 wherein at least a portion of said scattered electrons are directed along said fourth axis toward said field.
- 8. The method of claim 7 wherein said depositing is monitored by monitoring said scattered electrons.
