Claims
- 1. A compound comprising a plurality of linked nucleosides, wherein at least one of said nucleosides is functionalized at a terminal 3′-O-position, a terminal 3′-S-position, a terminal 5′-O-position, or a terminal 5′-S-position thereof by attachment of a steroid molecule, an enzyme, a peptide, a protein, or a vitamin to said position with a linking moiety that does not include a phosphate group.
- 2. The compound of claim 1 that is functionalized at a terminal 3′-O-position.
- 3. The compound of claim 1 that is functionalized at a terminal 3′-S-position.
- 4. The compound of claim 1 that is functionalized at a terminal 5′-O-position.
- 5. The compound of claim 1 that is functionalized at a terminal 5′-S-position.
- 6. The compound of claim 1 wherein said nucleoside functionalized at said 3′-position is functionalized with a steroid molecule.
- 7. The compound of claim 1 wherein said nucleoside functionalized at said 3′-position is functionalized with an enzyme, a peptide or a protein.
- 8. The compound of claim 7 wherein said linking moiety comprises a non-phosphate or non-disulfide linking moiety.
- 9. The compound of claim 1 wherein said nucleoside functionalized at said 3′-position is functionalized with a vitamin.
- 10. The compound of claim 1 wherein said nucleoside functionalized at said 5′-position is functionalized with a steroid molecule.
- 11. The compound of claim 1 wherein said nucleoside functionalized at said 5′-position is functionalized with an enzyme, a peptide or a protein.
- 12. The compound of claim 1 wherein said nucleoside functionalized at said 5′-position is functionalized with a vitamin.
