Claims
- 1. A subscriber call distribution system for use outside of a carrier public switched telephone network (PSTN) for connecting a caller or a call already in progress to any one of a plurality of different subscriber destinations for a subscriber N00 number, comprising:
- receive processing means for receiving a request to route a call from said PSTN, said request including caller identification information;
- a database for storing call routing destination information for known customers referenced to each known callers identification information;
- comparison means for comparing the received caller identification information to identification information stored in said database to determine if said caller is known caller;
- routing processing means responsive to said comparison means for selecting a desired destination based on stored routing destination information if the caller is a known caller; and
- send processing means for transmitting the selected destination to said PSTN for routing said call.
- 2. The subscriber call distribution system of claim 1 wherein said database comprises means for collecting and storing information about known callers.
- 3. The subscriber call distribution system of claim 1 wherein said routing processing means compares caller identification information to screening criteria specified by the subscriber in call routing instructions, the screening criteria consisting of lists of possible values of caller attributes.
- 4. The subscriber call distribution system of claim 1 wherein said send processing means also transmits caller attribute values obtained from the database if the caller is a known caller.
- 5. A subscriber call distribution system for use outside of a carrier public switched telephone network (PSTN) for connecting a caller or a call already in progress to any one of a plurality of different subscriber destinations for a subscriber N00 number, comprising:
- receive processing means for receiving a request to route a call from said PSTN, said request including caller identification information;
- a database for storing call routing destination information for known customers referenced to each known callers identification information;
- comparison means for comparing the received caller identification information to identification information stored in said database to determine if said caller is known caller;
- routing processing means responsive to said comparison means for selecting a desired destination based on stored routing destination information if the caller is a known caller and otherwise selecting a desired destination based on routing rules related to each such destination for the N00 number; and
- send processing means for transmitting the selected destination to said PSTN for routing said call.
- 6. The subscriber call distribution system of claim 5 wherein said database comprises means for collecting and storing information about known callers.
- 7. The subscriber call distribution system of claim 5 wherein said routing processing means compares caller identification information to screening criteria specified by the subscriber in call routing instructions, the screening criteria consisting of lists of possible values of caller attributes and call characteristics.
- 8. The subscriber call distribution system of claim 5 wherein said send processing means also transmits caller attribute values obtained from the database if the caller is a known caller.
- 9. A subscriber call monitoring system for use outside a carrier public switched telephone network (PSTN) which connects a caller or a call already in progress to any one of a plurality of different subscriber destinations for a subscriber N00 number, comprising:
- receive processing means for receiving call identification information from said PSTN in response to a call being placed to the subscriber N00 number, said call identification information relating to the caller's identity or actions taken by the caller during the call in progress;
- a database for storing received call identification information; and
- subscriber processing means for accessing said database to retrieve the call identification information stored in said database for monitoring information relating to calls placed to the subscriber N00 number;
- said receive processing means further including means for determining if a routing decision is to be made and in response thereto selecting a desired destination based on stored routing destination information using stored call identification information; and
- send processing means for transmitting the selected destination to said PSTN for routing said call.
- 10. A subscriber call distribution system for use with a carrier public switched telephone network (PSTN) for connecting a caller or a call already in progress to any one of a plurality of different subscriber destinations for a subscriber N00 number, comprising:
- receive processing means for receiving a request to route a call from said PSTN, said request including caller identification information;
- a database for storing call routing destination information for known customers referenced to each known callers identification information;
- comparison means for comparing the received caller identification information to identification information stored in said database to determine if said caller is known caller;
- routing processing means responsive to said comparison means and said receive processing means for selecting a desired destination based on both stored routing destination information if the caller is a known caller and also on routing rules related to each such destination for the N00 number; and
- send processing means for transmitting the selected destination to said PSTN for routing said call.
- 11. The subscriber call distribution system of claim 10 wherein said database comprises means for collecting and storing information about known callers.
- 12. The subscriber call distribution system of claim 10 wherein said routing processing means compares caller identification information to screening criteria specified by the subscriber in call routing instructions, the screening criteria consisting of lists of possible values of caller attributes and call characteristics.
- 13. The subscriber call distribution system of claim 10 wherein said send processing means also transmits caller attribute values obtained from the database if the caller is a known caller.
- 14. A subscriber call monitoring system for use outside of a carrier public switched telephone network (PSTN) which connects a caller or a call already in progress to any one of a plurality of different subscriber destinations for a subscriber N00 number, comprising:
- receive processing means for receiving call identification information from said PSTN for any call placed to the subscriber N00 number, said call identification information including indicia relating to event occurrences made by the caller during the call in progress;
- subscriber processing means operatively associated with the receive processing means for accessing said call identification information for monitoring event occurrences made by the caller of the call in progress placed to the subscriber N00 number; and
- send processing means for transmitting response messages to said PSTN according to any particular event occurrence monitored during the call for use by the PSTN in processing the call.
