Claims
- 1. An electronic structure comprising a metallized ceramic substrate coated with a film of an ablatively photodecomposable polymer, the film comprising acrylate polymer polymerized monomeric units and a photoabsorber covalently bound to the monomeric units, said photoabsorber consisting of 4[(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylamino]-4'-(nitrophenyl)azo benzene, said film having at least one circuitization pattern etched thereon.
- 2. The electronic structure according to claim 1 wherein the photoabsorber is covalently bound to between about 5% and about 25% of the monomeric units.
- 3. The electronic structure according to claim 1 wherein the polymer film coating is between about 0.15 and 5.0 micrometers in thickness.
- 4. The electronic structure according to claim 3 wherein the polymer film coating is about 2 micrometers in thickness.
- 5. The electronic structure according to claim 1 wherein the polymer film is strippable.
- 6. The electronic structure according to claim 1 wherein the acrylate polymer is methylmethacrylate.
- 7. The electronic structure according to claim 1 wherein the ceramic substrate is a multilayer ceramic.
- 8. The electronic structure according to claim 1 wherein the polymer has a weight average molecular weight of at least 15,000.
- 9. The electronic structure according to claim 8 wherein the film is thermally stable to at least 70.degree. C.
- 10. A ceramic substrate coated with a film of an ablatively photodecomposable polymer having a resolution of 2 microns or less and having at least one circuitization pattern etched thereon, the film comprising acrylate polymer polymerized monomeric units and a photoabsorber covalently bound to between about 5 and about 25% of the monomeric units, said photoabsorber consisting of 4[(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylamino]-4'-(nitrophenyl)azo benzene.
- 11. The ceramic substrate of claim 10 wherein the polymer film coating is between about 0.15 and 5.0 micrometers in thickness.
- 12. The ceramic substrate according to claim 10 wherein the ceramic is metallized.
- 13. The ceramic substrate according to claim 10 wherein the ceramic is a multilayer ceramic.
